Sweet Potato Waffles Recipe 100% Healthy

Sweet potato waffles or salted waffles, it is easy to be tempted! To accompany a mixed salad or a pan of vegetables, sweet potato waffles are ideal.

The sweet potato is easily invited in many dishes, and in particular within the vegan and vegetarian kitchen. Sweet potato puree, sweet potato fries, or stuffed sweet potatoes, this food offers us many options!

If you don’t know how to eat your sweet potato waffles, then you’re in luck. I’ll give you several ideas for side dishes at the end of the recipe!

Ingredients for the sweet potato waffles

To make about 8 sweet potato waffles:

  • 400 g cooked sweet potato
  • 200 g T55 or T80 wheat flour
  • 100 ml vegetable oil
  • 200 ml of vegetable milk

Add some spices:

  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of paprika
  • 2/3 tsp of garlic powder
  • 2/3 tsp of onion powder

Recipe for Sweet Potato Waffles

Start by cooking your sweet potatoes in pieces after removing the skin. You can choose to steam them, or as I did in this recipe, cook them in a pot of boiling water.

Once cooked, place the sweet potatoes in a bowl and add the spices mentioned above, or those of your choice. Don’t forget the salt.

Using a fork, mash the mixture until all the pieces are removed.

Then add the wheat flour, vegetable milk ( Plant milk ), and oil. Mix energetically. The resulting batter will be thick, but nothing to worry about. They are not pancakes… :).

Put your waffle iron to preheat while your batter rests for about 5 minutes.

When you’re ready to spread your sweet potato waffle batter on the waffle iron, make sure you’ve oiled the plates. It will be easier to remove the waffles later.

Put a good spoonful of batter on the plates, but don’t spread it out if you want rounded waffles. Close the waffle iron for about 5 minutes, without opening it so that the waffles can brown.

Now it’s time to enjoy your sweet potato waffles. For an appetizer, you can choose to put a coarsely crushed avocado on top and sprinkle some coarse salt and spices on it. You can also make vegan scrambled eggs with tofu. To give your waffles a more spectacular look, why not turn them into a sandwich loaf?
