Easter Italian Recipes to Create the Perfect Holiday Menù

Easter in Italy is all about gathering with family, celebrating traditions, and indulging in delicious homemade dishes. From classic pasta bakes to slow-cooked lamb and decadent desserts, Italian Easter recipes are a feast for the senses. Whether you're cooking for a crowd or planning a cozy meal, these traditional Italian Easter recipes will make your celebration unforgettable.

Italian Easter Pasta Dishes

1. Lasagne Bolognese

A dish that cannot be missed on the Italian Easter table! Layers of fresh pasta, slow-simmered Bolognese sauce, creamy béchamel, and Parmesan create the ultimate comfort dish.

2. Homemade Manicotti with Crepes

Unlike traditional pasta tubes, this manicotti recipe uses crepes instead of pasta sheets. Filled with a blend of ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, and spinach, then topped with tomato sauce, it’s a creamy, cheesy delight!

3. Pasta al Forno (Oven-Baked Pasta)

A staple on Southern Italian Easter tables, this hearty baked pasta dish combines layers of pasta, tomato sauce, cheese, and sometimes meatballs for a rich and satisfying meal.

4. Lamb Ragu

This quick and easy lamb ragu tastes like it’s been cooking for hours. It’s rich, hearty, and incredibly versatile—serve it over pasta, polenta, or even crusty bread.

5. Bolognese Sauce

This slow-cooked, meaty sauce is the perfect accompaniment to lasagna, baked pasta, or fresh egg noodles.

6. Risotto with Asparagus

Springtime flavors come to life in this creamy risotto made with fresh asparagus. A perfect Easter side dish or a light first course.

Traditional Italian Easter Main Courses

1. Italian Baked Lamb & Potatoes

Lamb is the star of Easter Sunday in most Italian households. This baked lamb with potatoes is tender, flavorful, and incredibly easy to prepare.

2. Italian Lamb Shanks with Parmesan Polenta

Nothing says Easter like braised lamb shanks, slow-cooked until fork-tender and served over creamy Parmesan polenta.

3. Smoked Lamb Chops

Looking for a modern take on classic lamb? These smoked lamb chops are juicy, tender, and packed with a deep, smoky flavor.

4. Abbacchio alla Romana (Roman Roast Lamb)

A traditional dish from Rome and Lazio, made with baby lamb, garlic, rosemary, white wine, and olive oil. The meat is roasted to perfection and drizzled with its own rich, flavorful juices.

Classic Italian Easter Desserts

1. Ricotta Pie

For many Italian families, Easter isn’t complete without Ricotta Pie. This traditional dessert features a sweet pasta frolla crust filled with lightly sweetened ricotta cheese.

2. Traditional Italian Dove Bread (Colomba Pasquale)

Colomba di Pasqua is an iconic Easter bread shaped like a dove, symbolizing peace. It’s slightly sweet, fluffy, and perfect with coffee.

3. Pastiera Napoletana (Neapolitan Ricotta Pie)

A traditional Neapolitan Easter cake made with ricotta, wheat berries, orange blossom water, and candied fruit. It’s a unique and fragrant treat that represents Easter in Southern Italy.

4. Italian Easter Bread (Pane di Pasqua)

This rustic, ring-shaped bread is not just beautiful but delicious, with hints of lemon and anise.

5. Easter Chocolate Eggs

Chocolate eggs are a beloved Easter tradition in Italy, enjoyed by both children and adults. The egg has long been a symbol of new life and rebirth.

Aw thank you! 💛 Yes, I’ve got you covered — here’s the full recipe for my go-to Oven-Baked Pasta (my kids are obsessed!):

      Ingredients:

      1 lb lean ground beef

2 cans (15 oz each) tomato sauce

      12 oz brown gravy

      ½ cup half-and-half

      ½ cup grated Parmesan

      3 garlic cloves, minced

      1 tsp oregano

      1 tsp basil

1 box (16 oz) dry ziti pasta

      1 cup shredded mozzarella

      Cooking spray

      Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350°F and spray a 9x13 baking dish.

Brown the beef in a skillet, then stir in tomato sauce, gravy, half-and-half, Parmesan, garlic, oregano, and basil. Let simmer 30 mins.

Meanwhile, cook the ziti until just tender and drain.

Mix the pasta with the sauce, pour into the dish, and top with mozzarella.

Bake for 20–30 mins, until bubbly and golden on top.

Super cozy, super cheesy, and total comfort food. Let me know if you try it! 🍝✨
